Occupational Therapy

for Children, Teens, and Adults

Therapy OPS offers evaluations and ongoing occupational therapy for children and adults. All of our occupational therapists hold Master’s degrees in the field of Occupational Therapy, AOTA membership, and a State of Texas professional license. Our occupational therapists also have advanced training in areas such as handwriting and sensory integration.

Occupational therapy services begin with a hands-on functional evaluation in all areas of concern. Following the occupational therapy evaluation, we will review the results with the client and family. In partnership with the client and family, our occupational therapists will then develop a plan of care to address all areas of need.

Through our collaborative occupational therapy services, our therapists work closely with clients, caregivers, and families to deliver the most effective therapies to achieve lasting results. Individual pediatric and adult occupational therapy sessions combine aspects of client-directed and adult-directed therapy activities.

Occupational therapy for children, teens, and adults is offered in our Red Oak, TX clinic or via teletherapy.

Occupational Therapy for Children and Teens

Occupational therapy focuses on increasing a person's participation and skills for activities of daily living (ex: feeding, dressing, school work, etc.). Your child may benefit from occupational therapy if he/she is experiencing any of the following:

  • Sensory seeking behavior (toe-walking, difficulty understanding physical boundaries, etc.)

  • Difficulty wearing a variety of clothing or shoes

  • Oversensitivity to noise, sound, touch, light, and movement

  • Delayed or messy handwriting or difficulty holding a crayon or pencil

  • Difficulty using two hands together or manipulating small toys

  • Visual scanning/tracking deficits

  • Limited diet, refusal to eat most foods

  • Difficulty paying attention or sitting still

  • Falls down or bumps into objects often

  • Intense outbursts and tantrums with possible harm to self or others

  • Difficulty with self-help skills (dressing, feeding, toilet training, etc.)

  • Prematurity (e.g. low tone, positioning, motor delays)

Occupational Therapy for Adults

Our adult occupational therapists work with you and your loved ones to help you recover from injury and illness. Occupational therapy is recommended if you or your loved one is experiencing challenges with:

  • Hand injury rehabilitation

  • Activities of daily living (dressing, grooming, toileting, cooking, etc.)

  • Work-related activities (writing, typing, etc.)

  • Safely living or moving within your home

  • Fall prevention

  • Arthritis

  • Alzheimer's Disease

There are many reasons for needing adult occupational therapy, including accident or injury recovery, a recent stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, etc. Adult occupational therapists often work in collaboration with speech therapists, physical therapists, and neurologists to help the individual safely do the activities they want to.
